Nearly all Rugosa rose species show nice thick hips and are blooming with single or semi-single flowers. A striking feature of the Rugosa is their fragrance which is delicious and all these kinds of roses are of a  healthy origin.
Except that they are very decorative, you can also make delicious jam and syrup out of the hips. Healthy roses that are good to eat and taste marvelous!
Be surprised by the delicious flavor of rose hips, and make your own jam! Pick the rose hips which are ripe and let your girlfriend or your neighbors taste your homemade marmalade!

 

Rose hip jam recipe. (For 1 or 2 jars)


Requirements:


1 kg Rosehips (Rosa Rugosa)
500 gr. Jelly Sugar
Juice of half lemon
350 dl. Water


Method of preparation:


Wash the hips thoroughly and put them with 350 cl of water into the pan. Allow it to boil, turn than the heat low and let them boil for 25 minutes until the hips are falling apart slowly. Strain the puree a few times until all seeds and hard bits are left in the sieve. Squeeze the lemon half and stir in the marmalade well. If all goes well you should have 500g pulp, weight it up and mix it with the sugar jelly. Let this boil good for one to five minutes and fill the jars immediately with the hot mixture, cover them up and READY!
